Re: [Marxism] South Africa - point of clarification
The masses of South African black people continue to support the
ANC-CPSA-COSATU government while a small handful of international
left-wing critics campaign against this government. Toward what
end, I keep wondering? In effect, these voices are calling for the
overthrow of the South African regime, yet they have nothing to
put in its place. What are you advocating: that the SACP campaign
against the ANC? That COSATU campaign against the ANC? Please be
clear and be direct about what you are advocating in South Africa.
There are NO voices I'm aware of inside of the South Africa of today
who are calling for the overthrow of the ANC-CPSA-COSATU government,
other than the Spartacists:

What's hard to understand?
Historically, some people have ALWAYS opposed the ANC. That's what
we were taught in the Socialist Workers Party of the United States.
That's the line of Ernest Harsch's SOUTH AFRICA: White Rule, Black
Revolt (Monad, 1980).
Don't take my word for this. Read theirs:

This seems to be the approach that the ANC's critics world-wide
are continuing to follow. I used to think the same thing, but
no longer think what I used to think on this question, however.

I'm not sure what Walter is really saying anymore. That the ANC is
reelected is supposed to add some sort of left-legitamacy to the
gov't? He feels so obligated to defend the existance of the ever
failing ANC-COSATU-SACP alliance as if this is a GOOD THING!??!
Why is it a good thing that the working class organizations end up
subordinating their class differences with the ANC that errupt on the
street in massive strikes and rallies?
