[Marxism] THE FIRST QUEBEC SOCIAL FORUM!
PAJU (Palestinian and Jewish Unity) #340 AUGUST 17, 2007
PAJU INVITES YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE FIRST QUEBEC SOCIAL FORUM!
AUGUST 23-26 2007 â UQAM / PARC EMILIE-GAMELIN
Inspired by world social forums, the Quebec Social Forum (FSQ) has been
created to bring together people working for justice, democracy and solidarity.
The FSQ will be a place to share ideas and debate. It will create and promote
alternatives and the convergence of social movements. Its goal is to bring
about a different and better world.
A participatory agenda
Thousands of people are expected to attend this important event. The FSQ will
feature close to 400 activities that have been proposed by the participants
themselves. All of the activities have been planned around eight themes,
including human rights, the struggle for equality, the environment, public
services, the world of labour, democracy and international solidarity.
The Forum begins on August 23 with a multidisciplinary grand opening,
followed by two days of debates, conferences and workshops featuring
discussions of
vital topics. There will be artistic events, kiosques and activities
promoting alternatives. And everything will culminate in a massive
demonstration /
march. There will be something for everyone!
A complete cultural program will be presented in several locations, including
UQAM, Park Emilie-Gamelin and the FSQ Cabaret. A full range of socially
committed artistic performances will be presented.
A workshop entitled "Prospects for Peace in Palestine" will be presented by
PAJU on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at UQAM in the Hubert Aquin Pavilion, Room
A-M 050 at 4:00 PM. PAJU Co-Presidents Bruce Katz and Rezeq Faraj will lead
the workshop.
