Your reading of my motivations is not correct.
You are partially right in that I do like to see discussion take place.
However, my reason for that is never "fun" or "entertainment", unlike
your colleague. I truly do believe that discussion clarifies issues
and questions.
There is always the possibility of filtering out those whose posts one
does not find interesting. For example, I automatically filter out
posts by a couple of people as I don't find their posts interesting
for the most part.
