Howard Beeth writes that Tim's essay is great, which from white folks is
usually a prelude to saying "HOWEVER..." 

Howard is to be praised for not falling into the same old tired white
cliché, using instead the 25-cent word "Notwithstanding:"

"1. What about 'the loyalty trap' re: African Americans--the tendency to
circle the wagons when under perceived attack, resulting in an inclination
to suspend self-criticism when it is needed?"

You mean like "My country right or wrong" or "Support our Troops"? This is
such a typically white liberal question it makes me want to puke. OF COURSE
Blacks tend to "circle the wagons" when one of their own is under attack. Do
you think white America gives a shit whether people use drugs? White America
MAKES the drugs. This is not about steroids. It's about putting an uppity
n*****r in his place. That's what America and Americanism and
red-white-and-blue sports like the idiot game of baseball are all about.

And notice the metaphor: "circle the wagons." Straight out of our most
cherished white myths. Here comes our innocent "pioneer" family, just
looking for a small plot of land to call their own, pure, white as the
driven snow, when suddenly they are beset by Injun savages looking to kill
their men, rape their women and steal their children.

We don't say, here come the European vermin, little Eichmanns, disease
carrying rats that should be exterminated just as an elementary measure of
social hygiene. We say "hope the cavalry makes it in time to save us." 

Howard adds, "2. What about 'the guilt trap' re: progressives--the tendency
to defer automatically to the opinions/positions of historically oppressed
groups, also resulting in an inclination to suspend criticism when it is
needed?"

Right. Like this really happens. White "progressives" do not defer -- they
patronize. And then go ahead and do whatever they want to do anyways. 

"3. What about the substantial gains of the modern freedom struggle (AKA the
Civil Rights Movement) which changed the USA in important ways, making it
complicated to compare conditions before with conditions after (JR Robinson
vs. B Bonds, white racism then vs. white racism now)? For instance, I have
heard it argued that the modern freedom struggle changed white
thinking/behavior more so than that of blacks."

What about trying to wrap your head around this: "white racism" is not the
problem. The problem is WHITE SUPREMACY. So before the cops used to organize
lynchings as community participation events. Now they just murder Blacks
without making a big deal about it. 

The struggle is not about making "progress" against "racism." The struggle
is about SMASHING a white supremacist SYSTEM and the colonial-settler
"United States of America" that embodies it.

Howard adds: "I should add that I saw a joint interview with 2 sportswriters
on PBS the other night--Bob Costas and a black writer for the NYTs--and I
thought Costas, who was critical of Bonds, made a stunningly persuasive
case."

Oh yes, trust the man's media. It's THE TRUTH. 

Baseball is bullshit -- and boring to boot. Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and all
the rest got famous by CHEATING -- no n******s or spics allowed. 

Because that's how you get white heroes in sports -- don't let anyone from
physically and morally superior races take part. 

What are white people? Descendants of the cavemen who were too fucking
STUPID to head south when the last ice age came. So all the darker ones were
systematically decimated by predators until evolution produced this
sickly-pale breed that wouldn't stand out too much amidst all the snow and
glaciers. And of course it's a physically deficient race. There's not much
call for sustained strength and stamina out on an ice-field because it does
you no good -- you'll freeze to death. So evolution selected for those
traits that have served the white man so well ever since -- treachery,
sneaking, lying in wait to sprint a trap, clever ruses. 

It must have been hard up there in the tundra and the glaciers, and
cannibalism quite common, which explains the particularly sanguinary nature
of this strain, and the inbred lack of hereditary genetic inhibitions
against killing other members of your own species, as well as the propensity
to raping, looting and fouling your own nest.

OK, this evolutionary theory of how white people evolved is just a
hypothesis. But I think it has AT LEAST AS MUCH if not more going for it
than the racist white supremacist crap being peddled by certain persons on
this list.
