It doesn't really matter if they are drafted or not. The most famous and
most effective antiwar GI from the Vietnam epoch was Ron Kovic, a
gung-ho Marine enlistee who lost the use of his legs in a mortar attack.
In his "Born on the Fourth of July," it is very clear that he came
around the antiwar movement because of its massive size and its tendency
to make distinctions between the real murderers in Washington and
hapless naifs like himself.
