It is interesting how the big 3 cable news networks correspond to the
broad division in American ruling class politics:
1. Fox TV: Republican Party
2. CNN: Hillary Clinton DLC centrism (although they do provide a forum
for Glenn Beck, an obnoxious reactionary asshole.)
3. MSNBC: Liberal Democrats (except for Tucker Carlson, a Glenn Beck type.)
The only alternative to this crap is faux news on Jon Stewart and
Stephen Colbert on the Comedy Network.
Since I have been watching cable almost exclusively nowadays, I don't
bother with PBS, which is half-way between Fox and CNN. Out of curiosity
the other night, I turned on the Lehrer news hour to catch "experts"
discussing the latest National Intelligence Estimate that--guess
what--warned that Al Qaeda was ready to come over and get yo momma. Both
experts were former CIA officials and concurred with the report.
Surprise, surprise. I was so ticked off by this that I sent email to PBS
News Hour complaining, which is a little bit like writing Santa Claus a
letter asking for lotsa new toys.
