Re: [Marxism] Doom of imperialism
"Who lighted the match that set the Reichstag on fire?"
Isn't this a useless question?
Same happens to be predicated on the "useful chances" the USAmerican
ruling classes either grab or create.
What with the explosion aboard the "Maine", in 1898? What with the
Pearl Harbor attack, which could ONLY be expected because Washington
had pushed Tokyo to scrap iron starvation, etc.? (and, as we know
now, could be _forecast_ since the US intelligence HAD broken the
Japanese code for military communications long before it took place?)
What about the Tonkin Gulf incident? What about the string of murders
that starts with John and Robert Kennedy and ends with King and X?
Were all these "chances taken" or "murders provoked"?
Is it really _that important_? Who can know if they were created or
not? If you can _create_ the event, then you can as well _cover up it
so thoroughly that no research will ever make the truth show up_.
I honestly believe that what really matters here is not whether those
crimes were chances taken or created. What really matters is that,
just like the Reichstag fire, they worked superbly in the hands of
the USAmerican imperalist bourgeoisie, and that FROM THIS POINT OF
VIEW it is most interesting to use them politically.
I mean: of course you can always tell people in USAmerica something
on the line that "they are such a bunch of criminals that they murder
presidents and Black church ministers, blast ships, allow foreign
planes to kill our boys, destroy buildings, and they will keep doing
it forever if we don't end with their rule". Yes, you can devise an
entire policy on this ground.
But I find the above quite unconvincing.
Wouldn't it be more useful to say something on the line that "well,
you know, it really does not matter whether they DID IT, ALLOWED IT
TO HAPPEN, or GRABBED THE CHANCE. What really matters is that people
who need or thrive on such horrible attacks must be the wrong people
to rule a country"?
I believe it would save us lots of effort and time if we began to
think in these terms. But I am not USAmerican. What do I know. And I
am not being sarcastic.
