Re: [Marxism] Support Their Troops: Toward a United Front

"But such cavils were familiar in the Sixties and Eighties too as huge
chunks of the solidarity movement found endless reasons to distance
themselves from the Vietnamese NLF or the Nicaraguan FMLN. That said,
ignorance about the Iraqi resistance is somewhat forgiveable. This
time there has been no Wilfrid Burchett reporting from behind the
lines, and that has had consequences of the kind McGuire sketches out
above."
Probably a typo, but just to point out that the FMLN is in El
Salvador, and the FSLN is in Nicaragua. The FMLN is still around, and
is in fact THE only real opposition on the left to the death squad
Arena party led by prez Tony Saca. In fact, I recently attended a
meeting with an FMLN rep from Boston, and it's almost as if we are
back in 1980 all over again. More on that later....
