Ok, now I know you're an agent of imperialism if you want those poor
kids to learn python -- the slowest of the "scripting languages", with
a resident image so big that the base Sugar install takes up like half
the system RAM when running. It doesn't even have macros! Every
red-blooded marxist-lambdaist knows that it should have been scheme,
and Bigloo scheme at that. So fast, so sweet, so french!

The biggest point the OLPC has going for it, is its existance. Yah,
it's there, and it's money that didn't go to war waging, and like real
nice grad students and well intentioned people got a cut instead --
all in the name of international computing solidarity. Some good
stuff will/has come of that, sure, but it's such a top-down deployment
on such a gigantic scale that I have little faith in the grand scheme.

I don't think it has any magical transformative or revolutionary
properties, unless getting some country to accept a big USAID package
to recycle dollars back to a few research labs and "partners" in the
US is revolutionary.
