There are good structural reasons for this (among them, the changing 
role of the Jewish communities in world politics and economics, under 
the ruling mastership of the largest and most powerful Jewish 
community today, that is the US community).

But we should also keep in mind that in the pre-Hitlerian years, 
Engels (and Marx) spotted the roots of traditional anti-Semitism in a 
badly digested form of anti-capitalism.

Thus, Engels explained that  since these people thought, more or 
less, that the system is good, some people are evil and destroy it 
from within, thus the enemy must be the Jews, anti-Semitism was "the 
socialism of the fools":

Petras is a socialist.
