[Marxism] Marx as Imus

.

For _historical_ materialists, fundamental social _relations_ are
prioritized over both particular deeds and words. And one _cannot_ draw
a direct causal line between those abstract relations and particular
deeds or words. Marx & Engels were sometimes wrong -- and they were
being, for the moment, shits when they used racist terminology. That
doesn't affect the importance of their thinking. Most people are shits
at times.

CB: The materialist priortization of deeds over words is synonymous with the
prioritization of practice over theory.

I'm not drawing any causal link between words and deeds in either direction.
I'm saying if you are discomforted by their words, as a materialist, you
would be even more discomforted by their deeds, acts, practice.

As I say, their larger deeds, were important in ending slavery. Their main
theory, as opposed to their participation in the popular culture of their
day, contributed to all around emancipation of working classes. So, I got no
problem with them in the main.
