In all this discussion it should not be forgotten that Marx himself was 
a Jew and that the attitudes he adopted towards jews as a group were 
common in his period - including among Jews. You only have to read the 
writings of the ideological founders of Zionism in the 19th century, 
e.g. Moses Hess, to see that Marx's views were also broadly shared by them.
