[Marxism] Ecuador Referendum: Early Exit Poll Results
I've been tracking initial results of the referendum on the
Constituent Assembly in Ecuador. According to an exit poll survey
conducted by Ecuavisa/Cedatos, which was broadcast on Radio La Luna
at 3:40 pm, 78.1% voted in favor of a new magna carta, 11.5%
registered no, 7.1% annulled their vote (voting is mandatory in
Ecuador), and 3.3% left their ballots blank. Prensa Latina reported
the same figures based on the CEDATOS survey.
In an interesting twist, the group "Citizens' Participation", with
408 observers in the 22 provinces, registered the presence of
electoral publicity in the vicinity of the polling places. 39% of the
"propaganda" (I use the term in the neutral Latin American sense)
registered support for the yes vote, while a whopping 71% urged
citizens to vote no. Too little, too late, Sr. Oligarchasoraus.
No major irregularities were reported. In 96% of precincts, the
voting boxes were clearly identifiable, and in 92% the secret ballot
was secure.
