[Marxism] Poland moves to cancel pensions to veterans of Spanish civil war

A member of the Law & Justice Party (PiS) has just proposed that the Polish veterans of the Dabrowszczacy Brigade in the Spanish Civil War loose their pensions. (Jaroslaw Dabrowski was a Polish soldier who fell on the barricades of the 1871 Commune in France.)

His justification is that they were witting or unwitting dupes of Stalinism, and certainly were NOT fighting for Poland.

The pensions are small -- $150 a month at best -- and the vets are in their 80s and 90s. But it is the principle of the anti-communist witchhunt the twins Lech & Jaroslaw Kaczynski -- respectively president & prime minister of Poland -- are conducting.

There have been protests in Spain and France over these moves.
