[Marxism] On Bastiat - was [Sharp Left Turn in Ecuador (WSJ)]

Here's one typical comment about Bastiat by the Right - taken from here:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/7006/thelaw.html

"Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) was a French economist, statesman, and author.
He did most of his writing during the years just before-and immediately
following-the Revolution of February 1848. This was the period when France was
rapidly turning to complete socialism. As a Deputy to Legislative Assembly, Mr.
Bastiat was studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And
he explained how socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most
of his countrymen chose to ignore his logic."

But here's what it says about him in the Grundrisse (footnotes):

"Fredric Bastiat (1801-50), French economist, and 'modern bagman of Free
Trade' (Marx). A believer in laissez-faire and the natural harmony of interests
between labour and capital; a fierce opponent of socialism in theory and in
practice (as deputy in the Constituent and Legislative Assemblies of 1848 to
1851)."

"When plunder is organized by law for the profit
of those who make the law, all the plundered
classes try somehow to enter -- by peaceful or
revolutionary means -- into the making of laws."
--Frederic Bastiat, The Law, 1850
