RE: [Marxism] Why Corporate America Dumped Imus

Jon Flanders wrote, "Good ole boy BS ran up against this reality of the
power of women in the marketplace . And then add racism and stir. I think
this episode was a tipping point of sorts."

I realize that this story topped the bombing of the Iraq parliament today
(did anyone else have flashbacks to the Tet offensive?), but I think the BS
with Imus is all typical "news."

The key word here is "marketplace." In American corporate culture, it's not
only to spew your prejudices openly before the consuming public. However,
it's still fine to have--and even mandatory to act upon--such prejudices....

In all of these discussions over public relations, what's being missed is
the abysmal failure of this kind of salesman-sensitivity to carry over into
anything that really effects the people. Unemployment is still endemic in
the black community. So is crime and police repression. So is a system
that tends to serve as a social solvent among the oppressed.

Imus probably matters about as much as who Anna Nichole's baby's daddy
is....
