Yawn. The interesting question is why Bush in 2003 made Thabo Mbeki his 
'point man' on Zimbabwe and hence left the status quo intact. Any theory 
there Li'l Joe? The pieces below and above could have been written 
various times since the early 1980s, of course.

The United States government has said it wants to see President Robert
Mugabe removed from power and that it is working with the Zimbabwean
opposition to bring about a change of administration... Mr Kansteiner
said the US was working with trade unions, pro-democracy groups and
human rights organisations to bring about change...
