Jerry,
Although I would agree with you for the most part, there are some
good things happening on the labor front in terms of alternative
methods of disseminating information, which also motivate people to
participate in pressure solidarity campaigns via the internet. I
would urge you to check out the Labourstart website by Eric Lee.
Eric, by the way, is a Wob, and true to form, he carries out an
important work in a non-sectarian manner which has also proven to be
highly effective. Long live dual-card unionism! He also has a weekly
listserve which includes solidarity campaigns for workers and/or
unions under the gun. These campaigns have been a key element as a
support mechanism for union drives, and in particular in
traditionally more isolated countries where the light of
international publicity has garnered unions a strategic advantage,
saving lives and jail time. Radio Labourstart and TV Labourstart can
also be accessed through the website.
Check it out at http://www.labourstart.org/
By the way, too bad you're not in the Albany area. We still have a
pro-worker radio spot at WRPI in Troy, done by Greg Giorgio, proud
member of the James Connelly upstate NY branch of the IWW.
OBU dude,
Greg McDonald
