Re: [Marxism] finkelstein
There is a very dangerous precedent at stake here; whilst it's by no means
the first time it's happened, it's encumbent upon all of us to try and fight
this sort of blatant political pressure being allowed to compromise academic
work. If the combined forces of Dershowitz, the ADL, and countless others
succeed in persuading the Dean of DePaul that it would be more comfortable
for him to edge Finkelstein out, then where will it stop? The disrepute of
so doing has to be made to exceed that of pandering to those acting
maliciously, if at all possible.
Solidarity,
Ian

I would think so. it's happening at my university right now. and
hbcus are not yet much in the crosshairs.
the reasons can be political or "financial exigency," the two often
becoming entangled in all sorts of ways.

higher education.
is this happening with higher frequency generally: that tenure committees
are recommending people for tenure but top level administrators are nixing
the recommendation of faculty?
