[Marxism] Re: More on Bolivia's COB

simply more of the same?"
Probably not Joaquin, I just posted it to see what people thought.
The current situation in Bolivia, however, seems to have arrived at a
critical juncture. The grumbling of the COB seems to be a sign that
Morales is in danger of losing support among an important sector of
the organized working class, who see him as too timid and incapable
of standing up to the oligarchy. He caved on the oligarchy's two-
third's majority demand for the CA, he has failed to carry through a
true nationalization of gas, he let the police repress workers making
legitimate demands, he has not raised wages for workers (a key
demand), and he has been unable to get Congress to sign off on 44 new
contracts with the oil companies. Morales is an astute politician,
but the MAS seems to be stuck between two opposing camps. As I am not
an expert on Bolivia, I posted the piece on the COB to learn more
about the situation there from other folks on the list who might know
more than I do.
