[Marxism] Re: Australian ISO leaves Socialist Alliance
I can't see why it's sectarian to post an ISO public statement without
comment.
Although I always thought the Alliance was a misguided project, it was still
very sad to see it fall apart.
Equally, sad, though on a lesser scale, are the attempts to pretend it's
still in good shape (DSP) or that it would have suceeded if only the
dastardly DSP hadn't stuffed it up (ISO)
I was very disappointed to see the ISO write that "the Socialist Alliance
was doomed by subjective, not objective, factors. The Democratic Socialist
Perspective used its organisational weight to impose a series of disastrous
decisions"
A failure of this magnitude is always seriously conditioned by objective
factors. The fact that there was some sectarian skullduggery in the alliance
proves nothing; life in politics is always like that.
The ISO thought they could regroup significant number of disappointed Labor
voters; the DSO thought they could regroup the left. Both projects were
unreal, that's the reality. It would be better to face it.
