It's quite interesting to read these kinds of reflections.
Personally, I hope this attempt to revive the SDS goes a bit farther than it
has. Imho, being a Marxist should never have been a prerequisite for
participation in a broad, multi-issue mass radical formation. I WISH we had
enough sentiment here to get a chapter going, but radicalization in the U.S.
has always been an uneven process. Frankly, I suspect there'll be general
strikes on both coasts before we have much going in this urbanized corner of
the corn belt.
However, as much as I'd like to see a genuine revival of the SDS, I do find
the underlying current of hostility to Marxism unmerited and troubling.
