A 'true' socialist alternative, huh, ....I see you can take the boy
out of the Cannonite tradition but you can't take the Cannon out of
the man...What a load of bunk, not least since you make no argument
about the very real, rooted role these comrades played both within the
MDC and more recently outside of it. I dont claim alot of recent
knowledge but to the extent that they are of the class and its
struggles and are also engaged in making an argument about the
possibility of an alternative to both Mugabe's nationalism and South
African style neo-liberalism - in the name of socialism - then they
are part of the movement's struggle for the 'truth'. You might
disgaree with their strategy, or how that relates to their
understanding of Staliinism, but the epistemological stance, required
to declare their struggles 'false', manifests the worst caricature of
'orthodoxy', shared by both the Stalinists and the ortho Trots ie.
'truth' springing fully blown from the head of the leader, the party,
the privileged intellectual etc.
