I'm amazed that Clinton can spend nearly ten minutes diagnosing the problems of 
East Timor without saying anything negative about the role of Australia there. 
Nothing about gas and oil ripoffs, nothing about Howard's role in stoking the 
violence of last year, nothing about the use of Aussie tanks and troops to 
attack a refugee camp and kill two protesting youths on February 23rd.
   
  Clinton dismisses the East Timorese protesting against Australia  as 
'marginal'. What about the declaration against the occupation written up the 
representatives of 8,000 refugees after the February attack? The mass protests 
in the streets of Dili after the raid on Reinado that killed five people on 
March the 4th?
   
  Despite the depth and breadth of his knowledge about East Timor, Clinton is 
acting as an apologist for Aussie imperialism.
