Re: [Marxism] 2 Asian films of note
Another one is the South Korean monster film, "The Host", which will
be released in the US in March. It's inspired by an incident in 2000
where a mortician working for the US military in Seoul poured a large
amount of formaldehyde down the drain, where it made its way into the
Han River. In the film, that serves as the catalyst for the creation
of a monster. The film reportedly takes a critical and satirical
stance toward the US, making it one of the rare South Korean films to
be lauded by North Korean authorities.
