Most of these really good pieces of fiction incorporate subtle moral
disclaimers. Certainly, the humane and, therefore, disillusioned government
agent--solider--cop is a major staple of movies and television. They
usually work better in the movies than on television, of course, where the
repetition of moral concerns become less and less credible with their weekly
repetition.
I've never seen "24," but developed a soft spot for the "MI-5" episodes
aired here. If we're going to watch such fairy tales, I guess we should
learn to separate my politics from the fairy tales.
