Re: [Marxism] China Drafts Law to Boost Unions and End Labor Abuse(NYT)

The only consequence of any interest, it would seem, is the question

Yes, as in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, where instead of mass
resistance to the overthrow of the "socialist republics" and "people's
democracies" there was widespread support for the restoration of
capitalism - based, to be sure, on a greatly idealized view of how the
system functioned in "the West".
The difference in China is that the ruling party is presiding over the same
process to ensure it proceeds in a more orderly way under its direction -
with privatization preceding rather than following the introduction of
bourgeois democratic political forms. So far, there has not been any mass
resistance to the turn of the Chinese leadership, although there has been a
great outpouring of demands from among those who have been most hurt by it
for measures to cushion its impact.
(BTW, the discussion doesn't seem so "heated" to me, certainly not by the
standards of this list. Hope you're not reading that into my comments.)
