I knew her vaguely and electronically.  She was sharp enough not to trust
the Democrats, but was becoming seriously terrorized by the prospect of a
socialist takeover of the Green Party.  I chalked her up as a strangely
opportunistic would-be power broker who said and wrote what she did mostly
for effect.

And I agree that this IS a very strange piece.
