Re: [Marxism] Brazil s Lula still ahead in Polls

Louis:
It is too bad that when Walter decided to reject the ultraleft sectarianism of
the Trotskyist movement he went full-tilt into a kind of crypto-Stalinism of
the sort found in the "Friendship Committees" of the 1960s. At least those
committees did their free PR work for postcapitalist societies. Why you would
want to serve a one-man fan club for Lula or Thabo Mbeki, presidents of
bourgeois governments favoring the rich, is a mystery to me.

Answer:

The answer to your mistery may very well be on the fact that people got tired
of being patient and ask for Marxism to be accomplished. They started to
bargain with reality and settled for less, and less, and still less...

Many of those who supported acritically the FSLN in the 80s and even the 90s
are some of those supporting Morales o Chavez today, or even Lula, Kirchner and
Mbeki who are ostensibly to the right of the Venezuelan or the Bolivian guys.
Nevermind that today the FSLN is against abortion, proclaims a "born again
cristianity", declares mutual amnesty for Daniel Ortega (accused by his
adoptive daugheter of rape) and the then Liberal President of the Liberal Party
(accused of corruption); is running with a Somozoist as his vice-presidential
candidate (the same one who got expropriated by the revolution of the house
where now Ortega lives)... no critical balance-sheet or nothing, just moved to
the next to support.
