[Marxism] think before you post?

As a new subscriber to the list, but one who has had kazillions of exchanges over 9/11 with a friend who is totally in the conspiracy camp (he's a mystic who thinks humans should go with "feelings" rather than "reason," a word worth sneering about and dismissing as mere "left-brain" misguidedness [don't ask: the studies of split brains mean nothing to people convinced of extraterrestrials and conspiracies of all kinds, as well as that "capitalism" doesn't exist and the French and Russian revolutions were actually the work of mostly Jewish "Illuminati," etc. ad nauseam]), and as one who has read as many of the conspiracy sites as I care to, and who subscribe completely to the idea that humans evolved the capacity to reason and should use it fully, I must say that much of the exchanges I've read over the conspiracy hype on this list over the past few days strikes me as kneejerk and not at all befitting "serious" Marxist analysis. I would like to say that absent Louis Proyect's eminently sensible and documented exchanges, most of what I have read about this subject strikes me as overly emotional and borders on masturbatory. How about doing a little research, investigation, and thinking before posting opinions?
And what's all this talk about trying to locate a "Marxist" position on conspiracies, etc.? How about just using common sense, reason, intellectual integrity, and firsthand investigation for oneself? Avoid the sophomoric.
My comments come as someone who needs to work for a living and seeks enlightenment, not mere gas, from fellow human radicals.
Thank you, Louis.
David
