and discuss it with each other ? Were they just inveterate chatter-boxes ?

Engels said Marxism is a science, and it has to be studied. You can't do
Marxism if you don't read Marxism to the point of studying it.

Could your aversion to Marxist book learning be something you get from your
anti-intellectual American surroundings ?
