[Marxism] Sheroes Womyn Warriors 2007 Calendar

REVOLUTIONARY "WOMYN WARRIORS" CALENDAR RELEASED, 2007 EDITION
Sheroes: Womyn Warriors Calendar, the Only Publication of its Kind
www.sheroescalendar.org

(BOSTON) July 20, 2006 – A unique 13-month calendar series that
honors strong "womyn" of the past -- radicals and revolutionaries of
their times –- who are virtually unknown in current history books, is
now available in its 2007 edition. The calendar is the only
publication of its kind in print.

The Boston-based Myers Center, a national non-profit organization
devoted to the eradication of race, gender and other oppressions,
announces that each day in the calendar features a brief bio-sketch
and image of a historic woman change-agent. Among the remarkable women
featured are Maria Barbudo, Puerto Rican patriot; Nannie Helen
Burroughs, African American educator and anti-lynching advocate;
Lillian Masediba Ngoyi, South African apartheid pass-law resistor;
Anna Louise Strong, radical pacifist American journalist; and Yamada
Waka, Japanese journalist and activist.

Loretta J. Williams, Myers Center director says the newly updated
calendar aims particularly to counter messages that portray girls and
women as vain, chattering, ditzy girly-girls, or gang bangers.

"This is an awesome bevy of women from the beginnings of time and all
around the globe," says Williams. "They are social activists who
sought and leveraged their courage, resiliency and power. We want to
inspire more "Sheroes" activism today, pushing the boundaries,
challenging their societies."

Award-winning graphic designer Chaz Maviyane-Davies portrayed 27 of
the too-often erased sheroes on the front cover itself. See
www.sheroescalendar.org for details on the calendars' availability.

Edited by saxophonist, composer, and writer Fred Ho, the calendar has
revolutionary roots. It was first published in 1998 as a study and
research project of ORSSASM, the Organization of Revolutionary
Socialist Sisters and Some Men (now defunct). Published annually in
New York and sold hand to hand through 2005, the 2007 calendar begins
a new series published by the Myers Center ( www.myerscenter.org).

A single calendar costs $15, plus a $3 fee for shipping and handling.
(Please make check or money order out to the "Myers Center/Simmons"

Myers Center for the Study of Bigotry and Human Rights, a national
non-profit that discovers, assesses, promotes and distributes usable
information that promotes greater equity in a pluralist society.
