Re: [Fwd:[Marxism] Louis: citation??]
Imagine that Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani pulled an Anwar Sadat during his
presidency and that Iran is now being run by an Iranian version of Hosni
Mubarak. Horror! Then, all the Iranian leftists who fought for the
Iranian Revolution, whether they were killed by the Shah or Khomeini,
died in vain. Thankfully, that is not the case.

Yoshie
What does it mean to have "fought for the Iranian Revolution"? This
classless nonsense is just another exhibit in Yoshie's descent into
Foucauldian postmodernist nonsense. The clerics and the left had completely
different *goals*, just as the Communist Party and the KMT had in the
1930s. Wanting to get rid of the Shah was like wanting to get rid of the
Japanese occupation. Well, at least they should have had different agendas.
Unfortunately, the CP was bamboozled by Stalin into subordinating itself to
the KMT. The net result was the Shanghai massacre of 1927. The Tudeh Party
(Communist) followed the same policy in Iran, but the "progressive
bourgeoisie" was under the banner of Islam rather than Chinese democracy.
They did the same thing to the left that Chiang Kai-Shek did to the Chinese
left, bury it in blood. I am sorry to bore Yoshie with all this ancient
history, but I have a dogmatic attachment to learning from the past.
