[Marxism] Re: did Lopez Obrador drop the ball?

Oh, come on, are we going to have a thread on this gossip? "Leggy
veddette". Give me a break.

I started a thread on whether Lopez Obrador was giving ground some time
ago. It turned out to be baseless speculation on my part.

He has fought the good fight, and is still fighting, although the ruling
class in that country and this seems to have made a firm decision not to
let go of power -- that's apparently how they have come to regard a
victory for him. And I can see why, given the surge of the rural urban
and poor, the indigenous and the supposedly indigenous (In Mexico, I
think there is a tendency to regard all country people as indigenous all
though most are mixed-descent and some are white-descended. Zapata and
the Morales rebels were widely regarded as Indians, although they were
not. Some of their best friends were Indians, though.)

This outpouring may be the greatest event in modern Mexican history
since the last surge of the revolution under Cardenas Sr. It has
changed the political face of the country, in my opinion. Of course, it
will take something more revolutionary to force the rulers there and
here to let go of even a little of their power.

He proved his case very satisfactorily in my opinion. Aside from the
fact that in Mexico such a narrow margin tells everyone that the
election has been stolen from an outsider.

The rulers will pay for this, I believe. After September 6, Calderon's
presidency will be a constitutional fact, but Mexico will have a
government that the masses really do not recognize as legitimate. Their
problems are only beginning.
