If this is indeed the case (though how do we verify it in light of
the DSP's claim that it is nearly impossible to accurately assess
the situation in Timor?), then all it would show is that the
the position of the East Timorese political class is as wrongly
craven toward Australian chauvinism on this issue as is the DSP.
Two wrongs do not make a right. Nor do two false illusions add
up to reality.

Here we agree. Telling the Timorese what to do is not your
job under the present circumstances. It is John Howard and
the Australian Military's job. After, he not you, has the
claim to being the regional sheriff.

I would have thought your job was to mobilise the Australian
populace against any regional action by a state that so
openly declares its imperialist intentions. Then again, I
could be wrong in assuming this.
