Nah, none of that is noticeable unless you're a serious audophile -
maybe.
For the record, I find it very noticeable. Even compressing it once,
even at high bitrates, on many songs you can tell the difference. I rip
all my CDs into lossless APE format (an alternative to FLAC) and not
just so I can tell people like I am now to make myself feel cool. But, I
suppose I /am/ an audiophile.
Anyhow, I don't know what bitrate iTunes gives you, but I promise you
that anyone could tell the difference between uncompressed and 128kb/s
if they compared.
I use iTunes
Well, if you want to pay to download for the convenience, that's up to
you, but I highly recommend searching www.torrentz.com for a torrent
first. If it has what you want, it's very convenient (and free).
I notice 0 difference between the ACC and MP3 formats when I
pump them through my Audigy 2 and 5.1s.
I've never compared them, but that was my understanding. AAC, as I
understand it, is basically MP3 + copy protections.
Anyway, I'm no fan of Macs.
I recommend them to the layman who has no interest in playing games. OS
X is pretty sweet, though the interface frustrates me.
I like to build and overclock computers and
I like to play games on them.
Agreed.
I also think people who insist on a mouse
with one freaking button on it are Menshevik renegade turncoats to the
core.
Amen.
