WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party of the United
States will hold its 2006 annual national meeting
in Tucson Arizona, from Thursday, July 27 to
Sunday, July 30.

Hosted by the Pima County Green Party and titled
"El Futuro es Verde / The Future is Green," the
meeting will take place at the Historic YWCA
Building, four blocks from the University of
Arizona.

Members of the press are encouraged to cover the
meeting; a schedule of press conferences will be
announced shortly. Reporters attending the
meeting can visit http://www.gp.org/forms/media
to fill out the Media Credentials Registration
Form, and may also register on site.

"Having our meeting in Tucson, so near to the
Mexican border, helps focus attention on the
Green Party's support for the rights of
immigrants, humane immigration policies, and
repeal of NAFTA, which has damaged the economic
security of both working Mexicans and working
Americans," said Jody Grage, co-chair of the
Green Party of the United States.

Delegates from state Green Parties will
participate in the meetings of the party's
National Committee, while Green candidates,
campaign organizers, and party activists from
across the U.S. will attend campaign workshops
and organizing meetings.

"We'll be promoting the Green Party's 'Peace
Slate' of candidates throughout the weekend,"
said Carl Romanelli, Green Party candidate for
U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania
http://www.rosemaryroad.org/carlromanelli/?q.
"While Republicans largely support the invasion
and continued occupation of Iraq and Democrats
are hopelessly divided and unfocused in the 2006
midterm election, Greens have consistently
opposed the war and have called for immediate
withdrawal of U.S. troops. Green candidates are
also promoting far-reaching measures to curb
global warming, single-payer national health
insurance, liveable wages, an end to the
corporate assault on the well-being and the
rights of the American people, reforms to ensure
clean and fair elections, and a host of other
global, national, and local issues."

"Our message in 2006 is simple and direct: a vote
for the candidates of the two war parties --
Democratic and Republican -- is a vote for war.
If you oppose the war on Iraq, vote Green," Mr.
Romanelli added.
