You seem to value the paper so much, that you grant them an extra
Umlaut (trema) ... the paper is actually called "Junge Welt", i.e. Young
World.

"Junge Welt" used to be the daily organ of the FDJ, the GDR youth
organisation. It is with "Neues Deutschland", the (former) organ of the
SED, one of the only two GDR dailies to remain in stalinist hands.

While "Neues Deutschland" (ND) caters more to the high nose burocrat
and teacher or professional, "Junge Welt" (jw) is more for the
leather-jacket stalinist, and has won readers all among the radical
left, also in the west. The jw-readers rather stand with Cuba, while the
ND-readers are more prepared to take up "critisisms" of Cuba's purported
human rights violations and declare Cuba to be a failure just as their
own GDR had been.
