Most of the time, these fans are making appeals to chauvinism, etc. against
the next city over.  We need to remember that, by definition, a sports fan
is a fanatic voluntarily experiencing a self-induced temporary craze.

Capitalism permits this escape from the drudgery of a day-to-day working
world.  Conversely, I am absolutely certain how it will turn out if groups
that can't build class struggle left wings in the trade unions decide to
take on this particular social habit.
