Mark says he holds none of the positions I attributed to him.  That's
good news, because he took some of those positions in the quoted
paragraph.

I take his statement as a de facto withdrawal of some of the positions
he attributed, perhaps wrongly, to himself, and I greet it warmly.  As I
said, I have learned to expect much better from him.
