[Marxism] The notion of absolute truth and marxisms- aquestionforthe list

Ilyenkov's Essays on Dialectical Logic, available on the Marxist Internet
Archive, are probably the best philosophical treatment of the problem of
"truth" in Marxist theory. Much easier to read than his text on the
Concrete and the Abstract. In fact, one might well say that in Marxist
theories of knowledge, the terms "concrete" and "abstract" are much more
relevant than those of "absolute" and "relative".

CB: The dialectic of relative and absolute truth is treated very
fundamentally and thoroughly by Lenin in _Materialism and Empirio-Criticism_
, with references to Engels' fundamental treatment.

In these discussions, Lenin points out that the only actual absolute truths
are trivial, such as "Napoleon died in 18__".
