The discussion between Steffi and Louis is quite extraordinary.

Steffie makes the basic point that many women are not attracted to a
discourse where a goal of the discussion is to dominate the other with your
ideas:

"An interesting commentary in light of the current discussion on why
> women don't participate very much on political discussion lists.
> Another part of it, I believe, is the competitive, dominating dynamic>on

This is a well known general feature of the difference in styles of
communication between men and women.  Of course as with any generalization
there are many exceptions.  There could be a long discussion of where this
came from (genetics, politics, economics, culture etc.).

Louis responds:

"But I will not allow charges that this is some kind of cyber-version of
American Psycho to go unchallenged. I have too much self-respect."  He then
makes further threats about shutting down Marxmail.

For making a statement about women being aversive to competition and
dominance Steffie receives an attack, an assertion of power and dominance
and a degradation !!

Louis has proven Steffie's point with crystal clarity.

validity of what Steffi wrote.
