RE: [Marxism] Re: sexism
Comrades should cut each other some slack all around....
If someone's particularly offended by a word, use another word where it'll
do. But the male ganging up on someone for being oblivious to Louise's
concerns was every bit as much testosterone driven as the obliviousness.
The fact that language is ultimately political doesn't make all offenses
equal. There's a difference between explicitly supremacist terms and words
that are perhaps implicitly supremacist. It might be well justified to hit
the former hard, but some patient persuasion would be more constructive when
dealing with the later.
Finally, you've got an open list of some 800. If 100% agreement is the
prerequisite for staying, wouldn't we all have left a long time ago?
Come to think of it, it's the nature of an email list that the offending
remark could have just as easily come from Special Agent Marcia Brady who's
subbed to the list as "Comrade Butch McMacho."
