[Marxism] More stories on the climb to shame
The fact that although one climber was left to die, another was
rescued by an American who turned back may have put ashes in the
mouths of New Zealand PM Helen Clark, for there has been no follow up
to her earlier remark that:
“From a personal point of view I have considerable sympathy for
what Sir Edmund Hillary has said, but he’s probably also reflecting
on the fact that ethics around mountaineering may well change over
time as well."
In other words he is a doddering old fool. Upward and onward is my
motto! BTW, Ms. Clark is also a climber, personally as well as
politically.
If you weren't aware of these events and the discussion surrounding
it, there is more here

But the most interesting are probably the blogs that have developed.
Here is one of them. One writer makes the connection that I was
attempting to make regarding New Zealand PM Helen Clark and her
endorsement of letting him die. One difference, however, is that Ms.
Clark is a leader who plans killings in Afghanistan. Whatever excuse
you can make for the marines, there is none for the leaders who send
them to "capture or kill."

Those were eye-opening links that you posted. They really show that
the ethics of dealing with a situation devolve upon each person's
individual thinking.
This is from today's news in the WaPo [ http://makeashorterlink.com/?

I guess what is described is another breakdown of ethics- the
overreaction of the Marines which led to killing of families,
including even the children, just because they lived near the spot of
the IED explosion.
