Mark,

In 1812, Britain's economic and military supremacy was by no means as
evident, or even real, as it would become in the remainder of the 19th
century.

Britain's "dominance of the seas" was about as porous a dominance as
could be imagined. Britain engaged in competition with and suppression
of other capital's to be sure, but it was hardly an imperial, economic,
hegemon.

The British ground military forces were regularly being beaten on
battlefields in Europe, and victories usually involved alliances with
more, and more backward, regimes.

If your Marxism finds value in wrapping yourself in a flag, or the hymn
to the flag, that is the symbol for the reality of economic barbarism,
then indeed you are not a Marxist.
