For what it's worth,  there is a book called Dawn of Democracy about a
earlier democracy movement in 1990. Before the Maoist insurgency really
got going. I bought it in Kathmandu in 1992 (heh, just had to mention
that) so you might find it hard to get, but it gives some sort of
picture of what went on. Great photos too.
