The draft kept the Vietnam War to the front of popular consciousness --
as did the steady flow of casualties. Hence it was indeed an important
fuel to the anti-war movement.
But this point is often badly distorted, with the suggestion being made
that avoiding the draft was a direct motive for 'joining' the anti-war
movement, and this is silly. Even among draft-age men in the movement,
few of them could be so silly as to have thought they could stop the war
before the draft got them.
