[Marxism] Brief Interruption

Not willing to endure moderation, so pardon the resub (temporary, I'm
sure) under the old identity.

No secret that I read the archives daily, and that the archives contain
great info on a regular basis. No secret that I disagree profoundly
with FF, JB, WL, NG, and that disagreement deepens with every
examination of every new or old issue. And I really don't want to
debate with FF, JB, etc.

But that a Marxist list seems to equivocate about open borders, as a
tactic, a strategy, a program in the midst of capital's assault,
worldwide, against the conditions of labor compels a point of
opposition.

First and foremost, the demonstrations of the past several weeks, have
been demonstrations of labor-- the conflict is immediately and
transparently a conflict of capital and labor. That the bourgeoisie
want to focus, confine, circumscribe the conflict as a question of
immigration rather than exploitation of immigrant labor, and the
conditions requiring, precipitating, extending that exploitation, is
what the bourgeoisie do. It is not at all what we, Marxists, should do.

I would think, that rather than take positions on which piece of
restrictive legislation is less 'unprogressive,' Marxists would first
and foremost in response to the conditions requiring that exploitation,
argue for a workers' party, dedicated to the defense of all migrants,
past, present, and most importantly, future-- without restriction, as
the conditions compelling migration will remain, intensify.

I would think we would oppose any and all legislation that includes any
"policing" measures against migrants, any support for "security"
apparatus to enforce restrictions, any legislation that intends to
separate "permanent" immigrants from "transient" immigrants.

I would think that such a workers party approach would demand NO
COOPERATION by employers with government immigration authorities; would
demand full benefits of licenses and social services to immigrants;
would articulate programs for workers review of working conditions in
service, healthcare, textile, areas where immigrant labor is
concentrated.

I would think that Marxists in such an organizing effort would link the
struggle to the ongoing struggles in Bolivia, Ecuador, France, the EU
against "gatekeeper capitalism" against restricting entry and access
programs designed only to better increase exploitation, degrade living
standards, create internal and external permanent Bantustans, Gazas,
etc.

I would think those are the points of necessity, and honor, Marxists
would make.
