My agreement.
But this does not mean that even all-white socialist groups could not
play a part and even recruit members to their organization. But one
should respect several _general_ rules of conduct:
1st: organizational questions are secondary questions. This also means
that the challenging the leaders chosen by the given movement is not on
top of the agenda, if at all.
2nd: Even if you don't agree with parts of the leadership or parts of
the political contents and program, stress the _positive_ elements, and
stress the common ground which then can be widened, ironing out possible
differences without talking too much (if at all) about those. Learn from
Fidel Castro's way to find common grounds with nearly anybody.
3rd: The most convincing argument is not the word, but the deed: show
that you can mobilize, that you can bring people to the demonstrations
who would not have come without your effort, because of your form of
explaining the issue.
And then, do what the SWP did with Malcolm X: invite the acutal
"native" leaders of the movement to speak at your forums, publish
interviews with them in your press, give them a platform to reach other
audiences, as small these might be. Any serious effort to get the
message of the movement out and to mobilize with your own forces for it
will be appreciated, I am sure. Such an activity is the necessary
condition of any recruitment.
