The punchline is that the AFL-CIO refused to back McCain-Kennedy because its
guest worker provisions would still allow bosses to superexploit them; the
SEIU has fallen all over themselves to support McCain-Kennedy -- although in
the NYC coalition the SEIU reps, who are in the central leadership of that
coalition, backed a "full rights, no guest worker" demand.
The SEIU website has been fucking awful, echoing the "we need to secure our
borders" rhetoric.
